DESIGNING WITH FOAM

Understanding Foam

Foam is baked into giant buns just like bread, and then cut right back to size by giant saws. Yum! It can be cut to precisely the size and shape you require. It can be made harder or softer depending on its composition, while the density (or “weight”) can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount of air pumped into it as it is produced.

And that is why a hard, over-expanded low density foam mattress begins to sag so quickly; while an inch or two of a heavier quality, high density supersoft foam or memory foam toper can considerably improve the support and comfort of your bed! In fact, polyurethane foam can actually be expanded into numerous densities and consistencies. Our designers will gladly show you how to laminate the ideal combination of foams together, allowing you to create your own custom designed foam furniture at do it yourself prices!

The Prince the Princess and the Pea

Some people require a harder mattress, while others require a softer one. At the same time they all require a basic amount of support. Why not customize your mattress by layering the foam to your own personal needs.

Flipped out flip-outs and the art of lounging

With your new found skills you can now see how simple it is to fit a sofa, a bed, a mat, a flip-out sofa bed, or even a raft into an alcove, a corner, or the entire room. You’ll be making full use of your space. Think in 3 dimensions by raising or lowering your seating or lounging systems to a window, creating additional storage space, or perhaps even capturing a great view. The flexibility of foam will also allow you to access space you thought you’d never reach. So as they say in the colloquial “don’t shrink the castle, expand the shack”… and then you too might find that you’ve actually built your house around your home, or should that have bean foam!
